North Florida Aviation Academy Graduates

06/06/2017

Recently HAECO Americas announced that it would be expanding its operations in Lake City, Florida by hiring 400 new high skilled/high wage avaition jobs.  The greatest challenge for the worlds largest Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) provider would be finding the the technical skill set for the jobs being posted especially since the company desired to hire a large percentage of those employees from the local communities.  As a result of HAECO's approach to hire locally, Columbia County School District working in cooperation with HAECO Americas, North East Florida Educational Consortium (NFEC), and surrounding school districts created the North Florida Aviation Academy.  The purpose of the NFAA was to introduce students to the world of avaition as well as avaition maintenance careers and to provide a workforce pipeline to HAECO Americas with the expansion announcement.  The NFAA cirriculum provides hands on training that enables the student to develop basic entry level skills for employment as an airframe structures technician.  Currently nine students having already graduated from the program are emplyed with HAECO with additonal students considering employment with HAECO Americas.
